Shoal Bay Holiday Park’s new Safari Tents take the hassle out of camping

If you love camping but aren’t into the setup and pack down dramas that go along with the standard family camping trip then you have to give the new Safari Tents a go at Shoal Bay Holiday Park, Port Stephens.

Shoal Bay Holiday Park’s new permanent Safari Tents are open for bookings, offering a comfortable camping experience just 100 metres from the blue, dolphin-filled waters of Port Stephens.

The eight spacious canvas tents with ensuite bathrooms offer families and busy couples the thrill of camping without the hassle of packing and setting up tents and camping gear. Each of the tents can sleep up to six people, and one ‘easy access’ tent is fitted to cater for guests with mobility issues. Large undercover decks and a shared BBQ dining area make the Safari Tent precinct a perfect place for family and social get-togethers.

To mark the opening, Shoal Bay Holiday Park is offering a special three-day weekend deal. Guests can stay Thursday to Saturday or Friday to Sunday nights and pay $410 for two adults, with up to four children under 18 free. The deal is valid from October 3 to December 25, 2016, and January 30 to April 12, 2017. The offer is available until sold out.

The spacious and stylish tent precinct is just a 100m stroll from Shoal Bay Beach and shadowed by Tomaree Headland which boasts spectacular views over Port Stephens’ rugged coastline and offshore islands. Port Stephens also offers a range of activities and attractions, including dolphin cruises, parasailing, bushwalking, fishing, a large koala population and the biggest sand dunes in Australia. The tents cater for up to six guests, with a maximum of four adults in each. Guests bring their own bedding and cooking utensils.

Surfing in Port Stephens

Port Stephens New South Wales is one of the most outstanding and spectacular beachside locations in New South Wales.  With a choice of  surf beaches facing a variety of directions there’s a surf beach for all occasions, southerly, northerly, on shore, off shore….there are plenty of options available for you.

Enjoy a weekend away and stay at one of Port Stephens most sought after Beachside Holiday Parks .   Find out more…

Here’s our top pick for Surf Beaches in Port Stephens, but feel free to explore the area for more…..

BIRUBI BEACH – Anna Bay

Birubi Beach, part of the 32km stretch of Stockton Bight, is completely exposed to wind and waves, but the extreme northern corner is nicely tucked away from the teeth of the summer sea breeze and it holds nice shape to about three metres. On days with light winds there may be ride-able beach breaks working the entire length of Birubi, although as there are no reefs to speak of it takes favourable sandbanks to shape them.

FINGAL BAY BEACH

A near-perfect C-curve of sand that faces southeast, Fingal Bay Beach has its own island connected by a sand-spit and is well protected from all but a hefty southeast wind. The aptly-named “Kiddies Corner” at the south end is completely sheltered and it draws mums and dads with nippers in tow. The spit at the north end which links Fingal Island to the mainland gets decent waves when the sand builds up.

ONE MILE BEACH

A great beach for the whole family, pumps in the middle and off the headland but great for the kids with their boogie boards within the  patrolled area.  If One Mile isn’t happening go around to Birubi Beach and vica versa.

SAMURAI BEACH  – One Mile

One of the best kept secrets.. pumps virtually every day, its a swell magnet. super secluded no shops close or handy so prepare. big sand dunes on the beach.THE WAVE PUMPS.

4WD access only and please note this is also a designated clothing optional beach so be prepared!

We believe that best friends should stay together…visit our dog friendly parks in Port Stephens

Did you know that all Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks are dog friendly…… Obviously we don’t want to turn the place into a kennel but we do understand that some of you just can’t bare to leave your best friend at home, others may just shudder at the thought of Fido leaping around the car and dribbling all over the kids…. However you feel, it’s great to know you have a choice.

There are certain restrictions that we put in place to preserve the balance for all visitors. Dogs are only permitted at the park when you are staying in your own tent or van, so no matter how well behaved Fido is he won’t be allowed to stay in one of our cabins or villas……I know he can probably picture himself stretched out on the balcony while Mum & Dad enjoy cheese and a wine but I’m sure that Fido will enjoy his tent or van just as much as long as he’s with Mum and Dad!!

Rules

If you are wanting to book in with a pet here are the rules to follow that will keep everyone happy.

  • Dogs are only allowed when staying in your own Van or Tent.
  • Dogs are not permitted in the Park during peak periods – This is due to the large volumes of people and kids that are around the park during this time.
  • No pets are allowed during NSW Holiday Periods (with the exception of April & July School Holidays – excluding Easter).
  • Dogs need to have the approval of the Park Manager. – No dangerous breeds will be allowed at any time and approval will have to be given by the Park Manager so please advise of the breed and size of your dog when making your booking.
  • Dogs need to be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
  • Dogs are not permitted around the childrens play areas or in the pool area.
  • All dogie dos are the responsibility of the owners and must be cleaned up immediately.
  • Dogs are not to be left unattended in your van or tent at anytime.
  • Dogs are to be vacinated, clean and free from fleas.

So if your best friend likes to swim in the water, run on the beach and sleep all day I’m sure he or she will have a perfect holiday in one of the Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks. If you would like some more information please give one the parks a ring and they will be happy to discuss your options.

*If you have a Companion or Guide Dog the rules are slightly different so you will need to phone the park directly and discuss your specific needs. All our properties have assisted living cabins that are fitted out to industry specs that will hopefully suit your needs.

Local Kennels

Why not book your dog into the local kennels for his own little holiday? You can pick him up and take him with you for the day and return him at night to play with his holiday mates.
We recommend a local boarding kennels – Cubbins Nelson Bay Kennels – centrally located on Gan Gan Road in One Mile Beach. Tel: Tel: 02 4982 1182

Location, Location, Location

What does it really mean?

It’s the real estate agents’ mantra: location, location, location. You’ve certainly heard the phrase enough and may wonder what possesses agents to say it three times. Or you might think it pertains to three different types of locations – perhaps an excellent location, a mediocre location and a lousy location.

I’ll put your mind at ease. It means identical properties can increase or decrease in value due to location. It’s repeated three times for emphasis, and so you will remember the phrase. It’s the number one rule in real estate, and it’s often the most overlooked rule.

So how do we rate in the location, location, location stakes?

Lets start with Fingal Bay Holiday Park.  Located in Fingal Bay (location #1). Situated directly across the road from one of Port Stephens premier beaches – Fingal Bay Beach.  Patrolled, surfable, safe kiddies corner for swimming and famous for the place where Lara Bingles uttered her iconic words “Where the Bl*#dy H#ll are you?” (location #2). Surrounded by National Park yet close to shops and clubs. (location #3)  Looking good to me, what do you think?

Fingal Beach

Shoal Bay Holiday Park – Directly across the road from spectacular Shoal Bay Beach, what more can I say, (location #1 & #2 – yes it’s that good).

Within walking distance to some of Port Stephens premier cafes, restaurants, pubs and boutiques in the Shoal Bay Village. (location #3)

Halifax Holiday Park – So if you are surround by direct access to not one but two fantastic beaches does that count as one or two, well lets say location #1 for backing onto Shoal Bay Beach and Little Beach. Can we add a star for also being on Halifax Point which is one of the premier dive locations, some say in Australia.  Location #2 having a boat ramp and boat/trailer parking adjacent to the park, and location #3 the park is  within walking distance of Nelson Bay CBD, d’albora Marina and all the beaches along the way.
